Business Funding in New York With Credit Challenges

A low score tells a funder about your past. Your bank statements show the business you run today. New York owners with FICO 500+ can still apply.

Three questions owners ask first

Is there a hard cutoff?

We consider FICO 500+. A score under the comfortable range for a conventional bank is not an automatic no here. The score is one input among several.

Will I take a hit just for applying?

The credit pull is soft. It does not add a hard inquiry to the file you may be trying to rebuild.

What else do you look at?

We typically review about three months of business bank statements. They show deposits, balances and how the business has been paying its own bills. No tax returns are required.

How a score ends up low in a working business

What happenedWhat the score showsWhat the business may look like now
A slow winter, bills paid lateA cluster of late paymentsDeposits recovered, but the file has not
Personal cards used to cover a business gapHigh utilizationThe business may be steady, with the personal cards still carrying the balance
A medical event or divorceCollections or missed paymentsUnrelated to how the shop runs today
A customer who never paidMissed payments to your own vendorsA one-time loss, not a pattern

These are examples of common patterns, not a list of what we accept or decline.

Sole proprietors and mixed accounts

A great many New York owners are sole proprietors, such as drivers, stylists, trades and consultants, and many of them mix personal and business deposits in one account. Sole proprietors can apply. If your statements are mixed, it helps to mark which deposits are business income so the picture is clear. A clean separation going forward also makes the next application simpler.

Use the money for something that pays back

For illustration only, with round numbers and not our terms: a mobile detailing owner with a low score wants a second van. If the van adds enough weekly jobs to cover its own cost, the purchase can pay for itself. If the money is only meant to cover last month's shortfall, ask first what keeps causing the shortfall. We cannot promise any effect on a credit score, and funding should be tied to a specific business purpose rather than to repairing a file.

What to do before you apply

  1. Pull your own free credit reports and look for errors. Mistakes are more common than owners expect.
  2. Export about three months of business statements and highlight the business deposits.
  3. Write one sentence on what the money is for and how it comes back.

None of this takes long, and it makes the five-minute application cleaner.

What we can tell you

We fund $25,000 to $5,000,000, funded in as little as 24 hours. The application takes about five minutes. Start at the application page.

Common Questions

Is 510 too low?

FICO 500+ is considered, so a score in that range is not ruled out.

Do I need to give you tax returns?

No tax returns are required.

Does a past collection disqualify me?

Your score is one input. About three months of business bank statements are also typically reviewed.

Will this report to the credit bureaus as a hard inquiry?

The pull is soft, so no hard inquiry is added.

I started the business less than a year ago. Can I apply?

We typically review about three months of business bank statements, so you need a few months of business deposits.
